How much English will my child learn?
The school offers extended English teaching following the Norwegian curriculum. The pupils follow the Norwegian teaching aims, but they have more English lessons than most Norwegian schools. In addition to this the pupils are immersed in the English language and culture through trips and activities.
The school has seen many times over that the younger pupils become bilingual very quickly. The extra English lessons paired with bilingual pupils in the class makes for a stimulating environment for young minds to pick up the language. You will often hear the pupil speaking both Norwegian and English at playtime.
The school has native English speakers that are part of the English lessons. The pupils are also offered the opportunity to take the Cambridge ESOL (English Speakers of Other Language) test. This is a recognised English language test that is used to measure English language skills. The highest level is accepted as proof of an English qualification at Universities in most English-speaking countries.
How many pupils are there in each class?
The school is “fådelt” which means that some year groups are taught together. The size of the classes varies from year to year but are usually between 15-20 pupils in each group. Year 1-2, 3-4, 5-7, 8-10 are taught in the same classroom but they all follow aims from their year group.
When is the deadline for applications?
The deadline for applications is the 15th of March. However, the school will accept applications throughout the school year assuming there are still available places.
